Muslim Creator’s Circle (MCC) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information in compliance with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act of 2013 (POPIA), and where we target or serve users in those regions- the EU/EEA General data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR.
1. Who is responsible for your information?
1.1 MCC is the responsible party under POPIA and a controller under GDPR/ UK GDPR.

2.1 Personal Information: such as your name, email address, phone number, handle, country, username, and profile details when you register or update your account.
2.2 Content Data: posts, comments, images, or other material you upload to the platform.
2.3 Usage and Technical Data: information about how you access and use our Services, including IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, interaction logs, cookies and analytics.
2.4 Cookies & Tracking Data: small files and similar technologies that help us improve functionality, remember preferences, and analyse platform performance. We use necessary cookies to operate the platform and optional analytics/ marketing cookies with consent where required. Preferences can be managed in our cookie banner/settings.

2.8 Special personal information such as religious beliefs, health, biometric identifiers are avoided unless an exception applies and unless strictly necessary and lawful. 3.1. In line with Section 13 of POPIA, your personal information will only be processed for lawful and specific purposes, including:

3.1.3. Personalising your user experience.
3.1.4. Communicating with you (support, updates, and service notices).
3.1.5. Ensuring the security and proper functioning of the platform.

4. Sharing of Information & Disclosures
4.1. We do not sell or rent your personal information. However, we may share information in the following circumstances:
4.1.1. With Service Providers: trusted third parties who assist us in operating the platform including but not limited to hosting, analytics, payment services, security, communications and under contracts that require confidentiality and appropriate safeguards.
4.1.2. For Legal Compliance: if required by law, court order, or legal process.
4.1.3. In Business Transfers: in the case of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
4.1.4. With User Consent: if you explicitly agree to share your information.
5. Storage and Data Retention
5.1. In terms of Section 14 of POPIA, personal information will not be retained for longer than is necessary. We keep your data only as long as required to:
5.1.1. Fulfil the purposes set out in this Policy.
5.1.2. Comply with legal, regulatory, tax, or accounting requirements.
5.1.3. Resolve disputes and enforce agreements.
5.2. We apply defined retention schedules and securely delete or anonymise data when no longer needed.
6. Data Security
6.1. We implement appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
6.2. No system or method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and therefore users should use strong passwords and enable available security features.

7.1. Under POPIA , you have the right to:
7.1.1. Access: request confirmation of whether we hold personal information about you and obtain a copy.
7.1.2. Correction/Deletion: request that inaccurate, irrelevant, or excessive personal information be corrected or deleted.
7.1.3. Objection: object to the processing of personal information (subject to legal or contractual restrictions).
7.1.4. Withdraw Consent: where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
7.1.5. Complain: lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe your rights are infringed.

7.2. Under GDPR/UK GDPR:
7.2.1. You may access, erase, restrict, port, object to processing and withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.

8. Information Officer & PAIA
8.1. In accordance with Section 55 of POPIA, MCC has appointed an Information Officer who is responsible for:
8.1.1. Ensuring compliance with POPIA and other applicable privacy legislation.
8.1.2. Developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance frameworks and policies.
8.1.3. Handling all requests for access to personal information in terms of POPIA and the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA).
8.1.4. Responding to data subject rights requests (such as access, correction, or deletion requests).
8.1.5. Conducting personal information impact assessments.
8.1.6. Training staff and raising awareness of privacy obligations.
8.1.7. Serving as the contact person between MCC and the Information Regulator.
8.1.8. Ensuring that security safeguards are in place to protect personal information.
8.1.9. Our information officer is registered with the Information Regulator.

9. Children’s Privacy
9.1. Our Services are not directed at children under the age of 13.
9.2. Where parental consent is required by local law, we will seek verifiable consent for any processing requiring it.
9.3. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors without parental consent, and will delete all data collected without appropriate consent.
10. International Data Transfers
10.1. If your information is transferred outside South Africa, we will ensure that the receiving country or organisation has adequate data protection measures in place, in line with Section 72 of POPIA.
11. Data Breaches & Security Compromises
11.1. In the event of a security breach/ compromise likely to result in harm, MCC will notify the affected data subjects and the Information Regulator and if and where applicable EU/UK Regulators without any undue delay, including all required details and all mitigation steps.
12. Changes and Updates to This Policy
12.1. We reserve the right to update and / or change this Privacy Policy from time to time.
12.2. Any changes will be posted with an updated “Effective Date.”
